Privacy Policy

Certasaurus is built privacy-first and offline-first. The short version: the app needs no account, collects no personal data by default, and never tracks you. The longer version is below.

The iOS app

No sign-up. No login. No personal data leaves your device by default. Your study data — progress, quiz attempts, spaced-repetition schedules, bookmarks, accuracy stats — is stored only on your device, using Apple's local data storage (SwiftData). We never see it. There is no cloud sync.

The one exception: AI Tutor

The only time anything leaves your device is when you tap the AI Tutor. When you do:

The question text and any follow-up messages you type are sent to our backend proxy.
The proxy forwards them to Anthropic (Claude) solely to generate the explanation.
The request is not linked to your identity. A random per-install ID is used only for rate-limiting, nothing else.
The content is not used to train models.
The content is not stored beyond what's needed to answer your question.

Plain English: if you never tap the AI Tutor, nothing about your studying ever leaves your phone. If you do tap it, your question goes to Claude — anonymously — and comes back as an explanation. That's it.

What we do NOT do

No tracking of any kind.
No advertising.
No third-party analytics SDKs (no Firebase, no Mixpanel, no anything).
No IDFA (Apple's Identifier for Advertisers) — we don't ask for it and don't use it.
We do not sell or share personal information.

The website itself

This website is static — no databases, no CMS, no logins. Standard server access logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) may be retained for security and operations. The site uses no cookies and no analytics. If we ever add either, we'll disclose it here.

Children

The app is rated 4+ on the App Store and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Your rights

Because we don't collect personal data, there is no profile to access, correct, or delete on our side. To delete app data, simply delete the app or use iOS's app data controls. If you have questions about your data, contact us at support@certasaurus.com.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change how data is collected or used, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, surface a notice in the app. We won't change practices in ways that retroactively reduce your privacy.
