Built for the Next Generation NCLEX

NCLEX-RN® prep built for how the exam actually works now.

Most prep apps still drill plain A/B/C/D. Certasaurus is built for the real NGN item types — matrix, cloze, bow-tie, drag-to-order, highlight — with the same partial-credit scoring the NCLEX uses. Practice the format, not just the facts.

What makes Certasaurus different

Real NGN item types. Real partial credit. Plain-English explanations.

The NCLEX changed in 2023. Most prep apps haven't caught up. Certasaurus is built around the new formats so what you practice on is what you actually see on exam day.

The real NGN item types

Matrix grids, cloze drop-downs, bow-tie, drag-to-order, highlight — plus classic single-answer and SATA. The formats the test really uses.

Partial-credit scoring

Same scoring rules as the NCLEX. You don't get penalized all-or-nothing for nearly-right answers — and you learn where your reasoning broke down.

AI Tutor by Claude

Miss a question? Ask the tutor to explain it. Follow-up Q&A is built in, so you can keep digging until it clicks.

Blueprint-weighted readiness

One honest number that tells you if you'd pass today, weighted to the NCLEX-RN test plan — not vanity stats.

Spaced repetition + weak-area drills

The questions you miss come back when you're about to forget them, automatically. Your weakest domain gets the most attention.

Fully offline, no account

All progress stays on your device. No login, no tracking, no ads. Study on the subway, in clinicals, anywhere.

About the exam

NCLEX-RN in plain English

The NCLEX-RN is computer-adaptive: most candidates see between 85 and 150 questions in up to 5 hours (including breaks). Since 2023 the test uses the Next Generation NCLEX (NGN) format — case studies and item types like bow-tie, matrix, cloze, drag-to-order, and highlight, with partial-credit scoring. You register through NCSBN at nclex.com/register.page.

FAQ

Quick answers

Does Certasaurus need an account?

No. The app works fully offline, no login required. All progress stays on your device. The one exception is the AI Tutor — when you tap it, your question text is sent to our backend so Claude can generate an explanation. Details in our privacy policy.

How is Certasaurus different from UWorld, Saunders, NurseAchieve?

Two things: the NGN focus (we lead with the real Next Gen item types, not bolt them on) and partial-credit scoring (so a "nearly right" answer doesn't get scored as zero — same as the actual exam). Plus an AI Tutor powered by Claude that explains anything you miss with follow-up Q&A.

What are the real NGN item types?

Matrix (classify each finding), cloze (drop-down to complete a clinical statement), bow-tie (actions · condition · monitoring), drag-to-order (sequence steps), and highlight (tap the findings that matter). Certasaurus practices all of them, plus classic single-answer and Select-All-That-Apply.

Are the questions real NCLEX items?

No — and that's not just a policy choice. Real NCLEX items are copyrighted and candidates sign an NDA at the test center. Every question in Certasaurus is original, written to the public NCLEX-RN test plan and reviewed by a licensed RN. That's the only legitimate way to build NCLEX prep content — and it's what every reputable competitor does too.

What does Pro all-nursing include?

The entire NCLEX-RN question bank, every NGN item type with partial credit, full-length timed mock exams, the AI Tutor, spaced repetition, and the readiness certificate. It also includes every future nursing exam we add — NCLEX-PN, specialty certs like CCRN, med-surg, ICU. One subscription for everything nursing: $14.99/month or $99.99/year. Non-nursing certs (Insurance, CPA) will be separate apps with their own subscriptions when they launch.

When does the app launch?

Submitted to Apple shortly. Bookmark this page or follow along — we'll swap the "Coming to the App Store" badge for a real download link when it goes live. No waitlist, no email capture.
